Quests are certain tasks, which can be solved by crafting an item or finding an object and etc.
Some characters provide recurring quests while others appear only once.
Thief Sonka She first appears when she is trying to steal from you. You have the option of attacking her or negotiate with her. Either way she will take 300 food from you, but if you attack her she will also take you down and reduce your energy to 0.
